February 20th, 2012: Aligning with the Best in the Industry

Wow, what a month it’s been here at Shoeshine Boy Headquarters! We continue to move forward on all aspects of the development stage. Our priority has been to recruit the best of the best, not only for the cast, but also for the crew. It is very clear to us now, that this project cannot happen without the involvement of two incredible film makers, Elias Acosta and Bruce Logan.

The stars must have been perfectly aligned for us last November 17th, when we met Elias Acosta, an award-winning Dominican cinematographer, producer and film director – it was love at first sight! He seemed to understand our vision perfectly and having worked as a shoeshine boy himself, the subject of our film was dear to his heart.

Since then, he has been instrumental in assembling a medley of professional Dominican crew, as well as initiating contact with key investors and lawyers. His passion for film is contagious and he has been an incredible mentor for us as we go through the arduous process of film development.

At the end of January, Elias brought on board the legendary Bruce Logan as our Director of Photography (DP). As a DP, Bruce has worked on some amazing films, but he is most well-known for his work in unforgettable classics for visual effects for the original Star Wars as well as 2001:A Space Odyssey, Airplane and Batman Forever, and behind the camera as DP on the groundbreaking feature film Tron. After the first conversation with Bruce, we were convinced that Bruce was a perfect choice as a DP for Shoeshine Boy. His expertise in special effects is exactly what our movie will need to take it to a whole new level.

Overall, we are delighted by how excited everyone has been about our project and cannot wait to get things rolling…
